{"id":169,"date":"2021-04-09T03:02:12","date_gmt":"2021-04-09T03:02:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cooking-peppers.ts-d.net\/?p=169"},"modified":"2025-12-05T01:36:29","modified_gmt":"2025-12-05T01:36:29","slug":"touch-of-spice-biscuits","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cursearch.atspace.cc\/index.php\/2021\/04\/09\/touch-of-spice-biscuits\/","title":{"rendered":"TOUCH OF SPICE BISCUITS"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>This is my variation on a southern biscuit recipe that will make a biscuit lover out of a Yankee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Makes 10 to 12 biscuits<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Vegetable cooking spray<br>1\u00bd cups southern self-rising flour such as White Lily\u00ae or Martha White\u00ae<br>1 teaspoon granulated sugar<br>\u00bd teaspoon salt<br>1 teaspoon Aleppo pepper or \u00bd teaspoon crushed red pepper or cayenne<br>3 tablespoons shortening or unsalted margarine<br>1 cup plain yogurt or heavy cream (if you dare)<br>\u00bd cup toasted, unsalted pecans, coarsely chopped<br>\u00bd cup coarsely grated Parmesan cheese<br>\u00bd cup all-purpose flour<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Preheat oven to 475\u00ba F. Spray an 8-inch round cake pan with cooking spray. In a medium bowl, mix 1\u00bd cups of flour, sugar, chili, salt until blended. Cut in shortening with a pastry blender or work in with fingertips until lumps are pea-sized. Stir in yogurt or cream; let stand 2 to 3 minutes.The dough should be very moist.<br>Pour all-purpose flour onto a plate. Flour hands well. Scoop about 2 tablespoons of dough into flour. Sprinkle more flour over dough. Gently lift the clump of dough and form it into a ball. Shake off excess flour and place biscuit in the middle of prepared pan. Shape other biscuits in same manner; place in pan. Bake 15 to 18 minutes or until golden brown. Serve with butter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>NOTE: If the southern self-rising flour cannot be found substitute 1 cup Bisquick\u00ae and \u00bd cup cake flour plus \u00bc teaspoon baking powder.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This is my variation on a southern biscuit recipe that will make a biscuit lover out of a Yankee.
